Our New ecommerce Site for Restore

H3ReStore.com is our online marketplace. When the pandemic temporarily closed our fully stocked ReStore we decided to break out of our walls by selling items on Instagram. It was a success! Our customers were happy, we gained new followers and we continued to fund our housing mission. When we reopened ReStore we decided to also expand into e-commerce by creating H3ReStore.com.

H3ReStore.com is managed by a small group of dedicated staff and volunteers who want to offer a pleasant online shopping experience for people who appreciate good value while doing good. All items we sell have been donated by individuals and businesses. We are proud to provide a sustainable shopping alternative for your home furnishings and home improvement needs.

Wrap with Habitat this holiday season

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers who love to “wrap”.  No singing required!  Since 2011, volunteers have been wrapping holiday gifts purchased from throughout the Danbury Fair Mall – and beyond – for a donation to Housatonic Habitat.  "Wrapping for Habitat" runs from December 5 through Christmas Eve day at the Danbury Mall entrance to Macy*s second floor.  Each year many volunteers participate in this "feel good, do good" event.

Donated Trailer Gets Refresh at Housatonic Habitat

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity volunteers recently gave a 40-foot storage container a facelift.  The trailer was donated by Al Cutler, former owner of Cutler Glass of Danbury.  The volunteers, led by Brush with Kindness Team Leader Tony Keating, replaced the entire trailer floor.  The renovated trailer will add much needed storage space for the ReStore’s 10,000-square-foot thrift warehouse located at 51 Austin Street.

Housatonic Habitat's Sustainable Gardens

Fran Normann, Housatonic Habitat’s Executive Director, has been dreaming about how to celebrate Earthday 2021 by planting a powerful message in the hearts and minds of the community about the importance of green and sustainable solutions. Find out how that seed sprouted into the the idea of Habitat Sustainable Gardens, with the goal of providing a model garden design for others to use at their new Housatonic Habitat homes.

Putting People into Homes Since 1991

Homeownership is more than the homes we build. Homeownership provides financial benefits that impact and contribute to the quality of life in greater Danbury. Throughout the region, affordable housing attracts families and individuals who will work in, invest in, and contribute to the economic and civic life of our communities.

Habitat has a solution to stimulating this economic vitality: Give people a chance to live in simple, decent homes they can afford – and sustain. We provide affordable homes built by volunteers with materials gifted by local businesses. We provide an interest-free mortgage for those working families who qualify.

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity has built more than two dozen homes in four towns in Fairfield and Litchfield Counties.
