Housatonic Habitat For Humanity

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.  We seek to eliminate poverty housing from the greater Danbury area and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Our Mission: We mobilize volunteers to build homes, sell them at cost with interest-free mortgages to qualified low-income working families who contribute sweat equity.  We mentor recipient families in responsible home ownership skills and foster stable neighborhoods.

Our Vision: We seek to address the need for affordable home ownership in Western Connecticut and to make decent shelter a community priority.

Our parent organization, Habitat for Humanity International, was founded in 1976 by Millard & Linda Fuller. Habitat for Humanity has built over 400,000 houses around the world, providing safe, decent, affordable shelter for more than 2 million people in over 90 countries.  A Habitat home is completed somewhere in the world every 21 minutes.
