We at the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity appreciate when individuals want to donate items to our ReStore, however because of sanitary issues and the condition of certain items, we can not always accept them. Here is a list of items that we currently do not accept:
- Air Conditioning Units (unless new)
- Appliances in out of style colors
- Appliances older than 7 years (gas or electric)
- Bath Tubs (unless new and delivered to ReStore)
- Books
- Broken glass or mirrors
- Carpet or Padding (unless new)
- Clothing
- Computers or Computer parts
- Dishwashers
- Drapes (excluding blinds with slats)
- Furniture (upholstered)
- Hazardous Chemicals (including pesticides and paint thinner)
- Mattresses or Boxsprings
- Mirrors or Glass (without glass)
- Nails, screws, miscellaneous nuts and bolts
- Oil & Gas Containers
- Paint
- Rusty Metal Items
- Shoes
- Shower Doors
- Single Pane Windows
- Water Heaters (over 5 years old)
- Wood (with nails)
- Wood Scrapes or painted wood
If you see the item you plan to donate above, we suggest considering donating them to your local Goodwill.
